SYED GEELANI has been arrested and imprisoned many times for his rhetoric about the liberation of Kashmir. The late GEELANI started his political life in Jammu and Kashmir Jamaat-e-Islami and rose to the position of General Secretary of the party thanks to his devotion to the Islamic Cause. Geelani stood out in the assembly with his accuracy, honesty, sensitivity to Urdu, his oratory skills and his discourses on the Kashmir issue. Kashmir continued its struggle under the name of All Parties Hurriyat Conference.

According to the latest information, the security forces are putting the bereaved family under pressure by encircling the place of residence. It has been reported that Indian security forces also requested the family to hand over the body in order to bury it away from the public at nightfall.

The funeral prayer of esteemed and the man with a cause SYED GEELANI in absentia was held with the participation of ASSAM President Adnan Tanrıverdi. The prayer was held in Istanbul Fatih Mosque following the Friday prayer on September 03, 2021.

On the same day, Ömer Tuğrul İnançer, the Sheikh of the Cerrahi Lodge, who came to pray the funeral of Ali Can Efendi, attended the funeral prayer in absentia.
